Today's Prompt: I want to make the world a better place...

I want to make the world a better place, though love and acceptance; as I hate the idea of my kids ever having to face a bully. I love the numerous campaigns that are talking about the subject of bullying, and the children that were changed because of it. It is no longer taboo, and we are talking about bullying!

No child should ever feel trapped or unable to speak up if they are being hurt or harassed. I know that there are horrible stories of children being bullied for years. I can not fathom my boys going through that. I would hope that either of my boys would come to me, and that the school would support us.

Education of acceptance starts at home. Yes, there are people that are different than you, but we need to teach our children to love those differences. Regardless of race, sexual orientation, financial status. or religion, we should embrace everyone in love and acceptance. My children have learned many things from us, and I can only hope and pray that acceptance is the greatest gift they have learned. Take the time to learn what makes each person unique and special, instead of being guarded and questioning the unknown.

How have you talked to your child about love and acceptance? When they ask why someone is different, how do you respond? Have you talked about bullying, and how hurting or being hurt is never okay?
