Uncle Milton and National Geographic have teamed together to challenge kids to get outside and explore the great outdoors that surrounds us! The All Terrain Nature Collector has grip and grab action, snap on critter collection domes, a handle that turns for easy collecting, and comes with an Explorer Activity Guide! It is recommended for ages 5 and up, and adults will need to help snap the critter collection domes into place.

As soon as I saw the packaging and the All-Terrain Nature Collector, I knew it would be a huge hit! We headed out on a nature hike around our back yard, and sought out to explore and collect creatures! I reminded them that we needed to treat nature and any living thing with care and to be gentle. We also talked about how important it was, to always release critters back into their natural habitats! I loved the design of the All Terrain Nature Collector, as it encourages fine and gross motor skills. Getting the grip and grab action, to pick up small things was a challenge for my three year old, but he was able to do it with a little practice! The critter collection domes easily snapped into place, and the quest to find a critter was on!

We first saw a beetle, and caught it easily! My son then counted the number of legs, and was surprised to see the beetle crawling around the dome, tying to get away! We looked at the color and shape, and then counted the spots on its back. We squeezed the handle, and the collection domes opened again; our new friend flew away as quick as he could!

My son spotted something, and we ran over to see if we could catch it! It was a Maryland Ring snake. The domes, allowed us to see the underbelly, and the little snake stick out its tongue! In no way am I telling your little one to try to catch a snake but, this snake is harmless and non-venomous. We only looked at the snake long enough to see him up close, and let him go in a pile of leaves near the base of a tree!

My youngest son then asked if we could look for a praying mantis. We have seen a few of them this summer, but have not been able to look at one up close before it flies away. We hunted and looked, but did not see one! We looked through the flower bush, and the nearby trees where we last saw one, but no luck! We now have a challenge for our next nature walk, and the All Terrain Nature Collector will now join us the next time we explore our surroundings!

*I was not compensated for this review, but sent the All Terrain Nature Collector for my personal review on behalf of Uncle Milton and Macaroni Kid Northwest Baltimore.

  1. I like that it's catch and release, but ewwwww, your boys are brave!

  2. OMG, my girls would have never touched the snake, non venomous or not. I guess that is a big difference between boys and girls. I think this looks cool that is is a catch and release too. What a great way to get up close to nature.
