PBS KIDS' Curious George Helping to Bridge the STEM Education Gap in Preschool

Great news for everyone's favorite Monkey! A study by the Concord Evaluation Group states that: "Watching CURIOUS GEORGE episodes resulted in a knowledge boost for the children in the Television Group."

Among other things, this study found that:

  • The CURIOUS GEORGE TV tie-in books and television episodes had a positive impact on young children's knowledge of the science and math concepts covered.
  • CURIOUS GEORGE enabled parents to become more comfortable helping their children learn science and math concepts and more motivated to do so.
  • Families unanimously enjoyed watching and reading CURIOUS GEORGE and would recommend television episodes or TV tie-in books to other families.

We are huge fans of Curious George, and watch it each morning on PBS. I love that my three year old son runs to the Curious George shelf at the library, and we can not leave without selecting one to bring home. Curious George learns through his curiosity  much in the same way that a preschooler tackles most of his day. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math concepts are shown and taught through George's daily adventures, I love that the show is entertaining and teaches a STEM concept in each episode!

Do you have a Curious George fan in your home? Did you know that your child was learning STEM concepts while watching? (I didn't know!) Are you fans of PBS and their great preschool programming?
