Vlogging Mommies - Mushy Love Stuff vs. Guys

This week we are starting a series on love! Tell us how you show love to your family, when they aren't "mushy love stuff," kind of guys. Meaning my son just told me to not hug him at the bus stop...how do you say I love you in front of your child's peers? When my Grandfather was alive he was never overly affectionate, but I kissed him on the cheek any way. How do you tell someone or show your family I love you?

Join in on the fun, and tell us the mushy love stuff.

Next week we talking about Valentine's Day! Do you have plans or any surprises for your family? Do you go out to eat or make a special meal at home? Do you send Valentine's Day cards via the mail? Do you bake or make sweet treats with the kids?

Join in on the fun, and comment below!

{CLOSED Giveaway} Send Hallmark Valentine's Day Greetings Across The Miles

Congratulations to Kelly D. who was randomly selected as our winner, thank you to all who entered!

This year, Hallmark is honoring all kinds of relationships – even across the miles.

We generally think of Valentine’s Day as a time for romance…a chance to tell our sweethearts how much they mean to us (and vice versa!) And while that’s certainly true, love comes in many forms – none of which is greater than the love a mother has for her child. Parents show (and tell) their kids how much they mean year-round, but Valentine’s Day provides a special opportunity to shower little ones with notes of adoration and share gifts they’ll love now and treasure for a lifetime.

My Mom lives in the Midwest, and we live on the East Coast; she was so excited by the Until We Hug Again Bunny and Bear! She loved the idea of recording her voice, with a special message, that my boys will hear every time they give the plush a hug. The process was so easy, just a press of the right foot, record your message, and "lock" the message; so quick and easy! My Mom was able to connect with her Grandchildren, regardless of the hundreds of miles that keeps them apart. Nothing better than sending a heartfelt Valentine's Day sentiment, and a hug!

The bunny or bear Until We Hug again plush make great gifts, for members of the military, grandparents or aunts and uncles who want to send their voice to a beloved child across the miles. No matter how near or far, you can record a message of love and hug!

Have you seen the new Special Delivery Card Presenters for Kids? The cards come in many designs made out of a soft material, great for any age, even the little guys! I had so much fun looking at all of the critters and characters, including Winnie the Pooh, Spider Man, Minnie Mouse, Snoopy, and adorable dinosaurs! A cute Valentine message is tucked inside, and can tell your little one just how much they mean to you. After a child removes the valentine, he or she can keep this little friend around to store little reminders of how much they’re loved. My little guy mentioned that his handheld game would fit inside perfectly, and rattled off all of the ways he could use it over and over!

Who needs boy bands, and divas...when you can have Bieber Fever? Have a tween girl or a fan of the "Biebs," in your home? Justin Bieber is a Valentine to millions and with these greetings featuring the the center of Bieber Fever, you can wish Happy Valentine’s day to your own superstar. I too must admit that I am a fan, and love the cards that have sound when you open them to Justin's latest music!

Want to win a Until We Hug Again and Greetings gift pack? You will receive one bunny or bear Until We Hug Again plush, two Special Delivery Card Presenters for Kids, two Justin Bieber audio cards, and three Valentines Day Hallmark Greetings cards; in this great gift pack! Enter today to honor the children you cherish and love this Valentine's Day!

    How Do You Say Good-bye?

I consider myself very fortunate to still have two Grandmothers who are living. We will not talk of their ages, but I can tell you I am fascinated by the stories they have shared and the way that they lived in the prime of their lives.

My Grandfather is in his last stage of life, and I am struggling to say good-bye. I consider myself lucky enough to have bonded with him over home style lunches, and many years of bowling. Although he is not my biological Grandfather, I have known and loved him since I was six years old. The amazing thing about this man is that from the moment my Mother married my Stepfather, Grandpa adored my Mother. As "outsiders," we easily could have been the black sheep of the family, but this was never the case! I will never forget the nicknames and true affection that this man showed my Mom from day one. (I cannot tell you my Mom's nickname as it is their story to tell, but my Mom has always taken it in stride and 26 years later, it is something they smile and chuckle about.) My Grandfather was never an overly affectionate man, but I find joy in knowing that he allowed me to kiss him on the cheek, whenever we would part.

Grandpa Dale was a Brick Mason, bowling alley owner and operator, businessman, Master Mason, held memberships over the years with the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and yet he was never boastful about any of these titles. He found joy when with friends, peace while fishing, and loved bird watching. It was often a struggle to get him to talk of the old days, but when you asked him very direct questions he would give you details of his life that I just recall hanging on every word. One of my favorite stories was of his wedding day, and wearing blue suede shoes, just because he could!

So, this brings up the question...How do you say good-bye? How do you thank a man for raising my Father to be the amazing man he is? How do you tell someone that it is because of him, that I cannot go bowling without thinking of Maple Bowl, a business he put blood, sweat, and tears into for 25 plus years? I loved that his little bass boat was the center of countless family fishing trips and memories. How do you begin to explain that the night he gave my Grandmother a strand of pearls for Christmas, is a memory I will never forget? How do you thank a man for adoring your Mother, when he easily could have been put off by her and her little girl?

I am holding these countless memories, very close to my heart as our family will have to say our final good-byes in the coming days. I send my love and thoughts to my family across the miles, wishing I was there to whisper these many memories and simple acts of gratitude in his ear. Thank you Grandpa Lee, for loving each of us in your own way. You have loved, and supported your family in the best possible way with every fiber of your being. You can rest now, your labor is done, and we all thank you for all you have provided. Good-bye doesn't begin to define the love and gratitude I wish to convey. Good-bye Grandpa and farewell; until we meet again, sending my love your way!
