Blog Dare:68

Today's Prompt:   If I were alone on a train --I would be heading...

If I were alone on a train, I would be heading to Cincinnati, Philadelphia, or St. Louis, to attend a blogging conference and join some friends at the end of the train ride. I have always wanted to go on a long train ride, and just enjoy the ride curled up with a good book! (My grandmother and I once talked about taking a passenger car, and ending up some where near Amish country, just to enjoy the simplicity of it all.) This blogging Momma, NEEDS to get away! (I would love nothing more than to spend time at a blogging conference, and meet all of the awesome ladies who blog and know what they are talking about!)

I have been on several train rides, via Amtrak, and I was pleasantly surprised and shocked about many things! I was able to go to Columbia, Missouri to go to the State Archives, to research my family history in high school. I went to Kansas City, Missouri and had the worlds greatest cinnamon roll, I was 12 and do not have any other memory of the trip other than the food and my Grandmother! I was always amazed at the bathrooms, and how tiny they were. I had an insane fear that the metal creepy toilet would suck me in; as there was something just wrong with a metal flapper...in my mind it was a trap to the great unknown! I was shocked to find out that people slept on the train, something about the clickity clack of the train sounds helped them to sleep the whole trip?
The very idea of a alone time, and then meeting friends...it has been WAY to long! I can not tell you the last time I had a girls night out, so to be heading some where on a train alone, and kid free? I can not even tell you how serene and peaceful the very idea sounds! Clickity clack...your kid free...clickity clack...your kid free, maybe that repeating anthem would put me to a blissful sleep too?
