{Friday Sneak Peek} Big Disney News! Reminds Me Of My Childhood!

When I was a small girl, my grandmother would read a book to me each night when I spent the night at her house. I am so excited, to share the following press release with you, as it is one of my most loved children's books. This love now carries over with my two small boys, as the book is quickly becoming a favorite in our home too!

Film to Shoot Entirely in Los Angeles Area; Hits Theaters October 10, 2014.
Disney has kicked off production on “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” the first live-action film adaptation of Judith Viorst’s 1972 illustrated children’s classic. The film, directed by Independent Spirit Award-winner Miguel Arteta (“The Good Girl,” “Cedar Rapids,” “Youth in Revolt”) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, is a 21 Laps Entertainment/Jim Henson Company production. Shooting in the Los Angeles area, with locations in the cities of Pasadena and Arcadia, the San Fernando Valley and Melody Ranch in Newhall, the film hits theaters nationwide onOctober 10, 2014.
Steve Carell (“The Way, Way Back,” “Little Miss Sunshine,” the forthcoming “Foxcatcher”) and Jennifer Garner (“Dallas Buyers Club, “The Odd Life of Timothy Green,” “Juno”) star as Alexander’s upbeat parents. The veteran performers are joined in the film by a trio of young talents that includes 16-year-old Dylan Minnette (“Lost,” the upcoming “Prisoners”) as Alexander’s older brother, Anthony; 15-year-old Kerris Dorsey (TV’s “Ray Donovan,” “Moneyball”) as sister Emily; and 12-year-old Australian native Ed Oxenbould (Oz TV’s “Puberty Blues”), who makes his big-screen feature debut as the film’s title character, Alexander.
Emmy® winner (and Golden Globe® nominee) Megan Mullally (“Will & Grace”) also joins the cast, along with Jennifer Coolidge (“American Pie,” “Legally Blonde,” TV’s “2 Broke Girls”) and Bella Thorne (“Shake It Up!”).
The film is produced by Shawn Levy (“Night at the Museum,” “Date Night,” “Real Steel”), Emmy® nominee and CEO of the Jim Henson Company Lisa Henson, and 21 Laps Entertainment President Dan Levine (“The Internship,” “Along Came Polly,” “Freedom Writers”). It’s executive produced by industry veteran Philip Steuer (“Saving Mr. Banks,” “Oz The Great and Powerful,” “The Chronicles of Narnia” trilogy) and Jason Lust (“Whip It,” “The Waiting Game”).
Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day  of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his brother, sister, mom and dad all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn't had one.
Director Arteta’s key filmmaking team includes cinematographer Terry Stacey (“50/50,” “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”), two-time Oscar®-nominated production designer Michael Corenblith (“The Blind Side,” “Saving Mr. Banks,” HBO’s “Game Change”), and two artists with whom he has previously collaborated: Oscar-nominated film editor Pam Martin (“The Fighter,” “Little Miss Sunshine,” “Youth in Revolt”) and veteran costume designer Nancy Steiner (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “Lost in Translation,” “The Good Girl,” “Youth in Revolt”).
“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” published in 1972, was written by Judith Viorst and illustrated by Ray Cruz. The endearing, enduring classic (with more than 2 million copies in print) became an ALA Notable Children’s Book while also winning a George G. Stone Center Recognition of Merit, a Georgia Children’s Book Award, and distinction as a Reading Rainbow book. Viorst followed this book (inspired by her own three sons’ childhoods—Alexander, Anthony and Nicholas) with two sequels: “Alexander, Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday” (1978) and “Alexander, Who's Not (Do You Hear Me? I Mean It!) Going to Move” (1995). The 1972 original was first adapted to the small screen as a half-hour HBO animated musical in 1990 before Viorst collaborated with composers Charles Strouse (music) and Shelley Markham (musical score) for a 1998 stage musical at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

This Holiday Weekend GO See Monsters University!

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer.  The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right. Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and features music from future Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and award-winning composer Randy Newman (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story 3”). For more information, like us at Facebook, and follow us on Twitter. The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in 3D in select theaters. {Friday Sneak Peek} The Fifth Estate

Triggering our age of high-stakes secrecy, explosive news leaks and the trafficking of classified information, WikiLeaks forever changed the game. Now, in a dramatic thriller based on real events, “The Fifth Estate” reveals the quest to expose the deceptions and corruptions of power that turned an Internet upstart into the 21st century’s most fiercely debated organization. The story begins as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his colleague Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Brühl) team up to become underground watchdogs of the privileged and powerful. On a shoestring, they create a platform that allows whistleblowers to anonymously leak covert data, shining a light on the dark recesses of government secrets and corporate crimes. Soon, they are breaking more hard news than the world’s most legendary media organizations combined. But when Assange and Berg gain access to the biggest trove of confidential intelligence documents in U.S. history, they battle each other and a defining question of our time: what are the costs of keeping secrets in a free society—and what are the costs of exposing them?"
“The Fifth Estate” is presented by DreamWorks Pictures and Reliance Entertainment in association with Participant Media and is produced by Steve Golin and Michael Sugar, with Bill Condon directing. The screenplay is by Josh Singer, based on the book “Inside WikiLeaks” by Daniel Domscheit-Berg and the Guardian book “WikiLeaks” by David Leigh and Luke Harding. Minion Takes Flight Over St. Louis #Despicablimp

Many Despicable Me 2 fans, across the St. Louis area reported seeing a one-eyed Minion in the sky on Tuesday. It isn't every day that a bright yellow Minion flies over the St. Louis Gateway Arch, but on Tuesday photos started popping up on social media. The Despicablimp is touring the US, as part of a promotional tour for the Despicable Me 2 movie that was released this summer.
I was so excited to be greeted by Jerry, the two-eyed Minion, when I arrived for my flight in the Despicablimp! Did you know that there are many different kinds of Minions? Jerry, is famous for saying "Whaaat?!" His spiked hair and grimace, are what sets him apart from the other Minions created by Gru.
The Despicablimp is only one of 15 airships flying in the world today. It is an A-150 blimp, at 165-feet long, 55-feet high, 46-feet wide, and is hard to miss! I was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the Despicablimp as we were led out to a grassy area in the middle of the airfield. The 8  to 12 man Despicablimp crew held tethering ropes, while we quickly boarded the small gondola. Allan Judd, the chief pilot welcomed us, and asked us to put on a head set. I was shocked when he asked me to sit in the co-pilot seat! (The gondola only seats 6-7 passengers, and the pilot!)

In the co-pilot seat
I was very surprised at how smooth the take off was, and how little "runway," was needed! Our pilot was fantastic, and shared many details with us while we were in flight! He also shared with us a story of flying near an American bald eagle, who was very surprised to see a blimp in his flight path! The windows of the gondola (seating area) were open, and you could feel the wind as it passed over your skin or rustled your hair!
The Clark Bridge (Alton, IL)
Our tour flew over the Alton Lock and Dam, Clark Bridge, and other well known sights from as high as 10,000 feet! The ability to capture these views looking out an open window of the Despicablimp, truly was a rare treat!
Our Despicablimp pilot Allan and his crew, have takeoff, flight control, and landing down to an art form. There are generational hand signals used by the crew to communicate with the pilot on board, and as I was in the co-pilot seat, I watched this process with fascination  The crew of the Despicablimp tether the airship while it is on the ground, often with 3 or 4 men holding each line! Our group watch the Despicablimp take off once again, once our feet were safely on the ground!

Despicable Me 2 features the return of (former?) super-villain Gru (Steve Carell), his adorable girls, the unpredictably hilarious Minions...and a host of new and outrageously funny characters. Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s worldwide blockbuster Despicable Me entertained audiences around the globe in 2010, grossing more than $540 million and becoming the 10th-biggest animated motion picture in U.S. Now in theaters, get ready for more Minion madness!

Track the Descpicablimp or share your photos via the Despicablimp Command CenterFacebook, Twitter #despicablimp #DespicableMe2, Instagram, Pinterest, or Google+! The Minions would love to see your Despicablimp pictures. Check out the Despicablimp  Command Center to see if the Minions are coming to a city near you!

Back 2 School with Walgreens Healthcare Clinic #HealthcareClinic #cbias #SocialFabric

Did you know that Walgreens Healthcare Clinic does back to school physicals? I was concerned that registering my son for first grade would be a challenge, as we have not found a primary care physician since we have moved. I was thrilled when I stopped by my local Walgreens and found that the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic can do camp and school physicals without an appointment!
I loved that I didn't have to show a ton of paperwork, or insurance at a reception desk. My kids and I didn't have to wait in a stuffy waiting room wondering if the doctor was on time. Within minutes of arriving, we were signed in and knew how many patients were in front of us. The process was smooth and easy to maneuver with two young children.
We loved the bedside manner of the Board-certified Nurse Practitioner, as she explained everything she did prior to examining my son. As a parent, I loved that the nurse and nurse practitioner asked probing history questions, so that my son's medical history did not go unnoticed.  Want to see all of the details of our visit? Check out our Google+ Album and the steps to our great experience!

Walgreens Healthcare Clinics are perfect for:
  1. Patients who do not have primary care physicians.
  2. Patients who work traditional work hours, as Walgreens Health Clinics have hours in the evenings & weekends.
  3. Patients new to the community.
  4. Patients with limited time. (Walk-ins are welcome, the website can give updated wait times)
  5. Walgreens is local and in most communities

Check out the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic website for locations near you, follow Walgreens on  Twitter #HealthcareClinic, or like Walgreens on Facebook for the latest information.

{Friday Sneak Peek} Disneynature's BEARS - New Trailer

In an epic story of breathtaking scale, Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure “Bears” showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life’s most important lessons. Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, their journey begins as winter comes to an end and the bears emerge from hibernation to face the bitter cold. The world outside is exciting—but risky—as the cubs’ playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches. As the season changes from spring to summer, the brown bears must work hard to find food—ultimately feasting at a plentiful salmon run—while staying safe from rival male bears and predators, including an ever-present wolf pack. “Bears” captures the fast-moving action and suspense of life in one of the planet’s last great wildernesses—Alaska!  Directed by Alastair Fothergill (“Earth,” “African Cats” and “Chimpanzee”) and Keith Scholey (“African Cats”), “Bears” arrives in theaters April 18, 2014, to celebrate Earth Day.
