"I Can't," Doesn't Live Here!


Not a day goes by that we do not hear "I can't ___ (fill in the blank with a struggle)." The two monsters say this horrible phrase through out the day, and I am just so sad that the kids find it so easy to say.

I can't put my shirt on
I can't wipe my hiney
I can't pour the milk
I can't reach the legos
I can't see the book
I can't find the red car
I can't...
I can't ...

" I can't" seems to sneak up, and rear its ugly head! This Momma is tired of hearing it, as it is so negative and lacks any attempt in trying to achieve the goal. I sat both boys down and told them that we need to find a way to work together to get rid of "I can't." Both of them looked puzzled, and I explained we need to try, ask for help, or find a way to make our struggles easier! My youngest, simply said "okay." Mikey sat there a few moments and then looked at me with great concern and said "I can't, doesn't live here." I have no idea how he decided to kick "I can't," out the door, but it works for me. If that's what it takes to stop the negativity, then yes I agree that "I can't" needs to move on down the road, and live some where else!
